Diana’s Counseling Philosophy: “I believe in creating an environment of support, safety and respect. My emphasis is on teaching individuals skills to help them heal themselves. I believe counseling is a resource for a variety of individuals, including emotionally healthy people who want to make more rapid progress in certain areas of their lives. It is also a tremendous support for those who are stuck, confused or overwhelmed by challenges in their relationships or emotional healing.”
Areas of Practice: Diana Hoffman works most often with abuse and trauma survivors–who tend to suffer with insomnia, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, headaches, chronic pain, nightmares, emotional numbness, insecurity, inadequacy, irritability, anger outbursts, apathy or listlessness.
The second largest area of Diana’s practice is counseling couples who are trying to rescue, repair or strengthen their relationship.
A third major area of practice is working with teenagers with a variety of challenges including conduct disorder, addiction, depression, self-harming, ADD/ADHD, social challenges, low self-worth, academic problems, illegal behavior, and anxiety disorders.
Diana Hoffman also specializes in performance coaching and alert performance hypnosis work for athletes, professionals, college students and businessmen who want to improve their focus, enhance their personal power, and perfect their competitive skills
Experience: Diana Hoffman has worked throughout her career in private practice, focusing on abuse and trauma recovery. She has developed a variety of skills and resources to help individuals recovery gently, safely and permanently from the effects of traumatic experiences. Diana also has years of experience working with troubled teenagers, and has worked in youth corrections programs, including secure facilities, Observation and Assessment facilities, wilderness programs and group homes.
In the Media: Diana HoffmanI hosts the weekly radio program, “Healing Talk“, a forum for state-of the art research in relationship skills, self-help and mental health.
In addition to discussing new research and theory, Diana interviews authors, experts and researchers from around the country. Diana is a published author, having written a variety of published stories, magazine and newspaper articles, and she is currently completing the book “The Personal Handbook of Trauma Recovery”, which will be released in 2012.”
Education: Diana Hoffman holds Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Counseling degree. She earned her Master of Counseling degree is from the University of Phoenix. She also did graduate coursework at the University of Utah in clinical hypnosis.
Professional Affiliations: Diana Hoffman is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Utah, and a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Specialized Training: Diana Hoffman has studied trauma theory, trauma release therapy and ego state therapy under national experts including Bruce Perry, William Kluft, and John Watkins. Diana is ASCH trained in clinical hypnosis, and also received advanced training through the Milton Erickson Foundation. Diana is a Hypnobirthing practitioner, and a member of EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) She is trained in Emotional Freedom Therapy, and is also trained in faith-based emotional release techniques.
Personal Information: Diana Hoffman is happily married to her husband of 27 years. They have four adult children, and live in an oak forest with an abundance of deer and wild turkeys. Diana enjoys backpacking, camping, canoeing, white-water rafting, downhill skiing, swimming, biking and horseback riding.
